Nature-based carbon credits from verified afforestation projects in Pakistan

High-Integrity Carbon Credits from Nature Restoration

Pakistan Carbon Reserve develops institutional-grade afforestation projects designed to generate independently verified carbon credits. We combine rigorous monitoring, international standards compliance, and scalable execution to deliver credible nature-based solutions for corporate net-zero commitments.

Why Pakistan?

Pakistan has only 2.5% forest cover, far below the 31% global average. This represents massive restoration potential where rigorous MRV and permanence can deliver verified impact.

Provincial governments actively seek afforestation partnerships. Long-term lease frameworks, with tenure documented site by site, enable institutional-scale deployment.

Native species on degraded land can remove 5–10 tCO₂ per hectare each year, our planning assumption until the pilot's measured data replaces it, at a fraction of the development cost of established markets.

Tens of millions of hectares of degraded land await restoration across diverse ecological zones. Plains, foothills, and arid regions each support different native species, enabling specialized project design and permanence strategies.

Pakistan ranks among the world's most climate-vulnerable nations, drawing GCF and World Bank concessional finance. Grant availability de-risks development costs that projects in other regions must self-fund.

Our Approach

One repeatable model, from degraded land to verified credits.

  1. 01

    Secure land

Long-term leases or purchase of degraded and marginal land, starting in Punjab's Chakwal and Rajanpur districts. Clear tenure is settled before a single tree goes in.

  2. 02

    Plant native species

Indigenous species chosen for survival, growth rate, and ecological fit with each site, established and maintained by local crews.

  3. 03

    Measure and verify

Permanent ground inventory plots, satellite monitoring, and independent third-party audits under the Verra VCS methodology for afforestation.

  4. 04

    Issue credits

Verified credits issued on the Verra registry and sold through long-term offtake agreements with corporate buyers.

What makes these credits high-integrity

Additionality assessed per project

Each site's baseline is documented and audited. We do not assume additionality from national forest cover figures.

Permanence protected

A share of every issuance goes to the VCS buffer pool to insure against reversal, alongside fire, grazing, and drought management on site.

Independently verified

Validation and periodic verification by an accredited third-party body, with monitoring data made available to buyers.

Community benefit built in

Local employment in planting, maintenance, and monitoring, and revenue sharing with land partners.

Who We Work With

Three kinds of partner, each with a different question. Here is our answer to each.

Credit buyers

Corporate sustainability teams

Teams that need removal credits with documented additionality, buffer-protected permanence, and monitoring data they can show their auditors.

  • Early offtake access to pilot and scale-up volumes
  • Full MRV transparency, from plot data to audit reports
  • A Pakistan-based project in a market with few high-integrity afforestation options

Funders and investors

Grant makers and impact capital

Institutions backing nature-based mitigation in one of the world's most climate-vulnerable countries, at pilot stage with a clear path to 5,000 hectares.

  • Institutional-grade project design from day one
  • A pipeline aligned with GCF and multilateral development bank priorities
  • A patient-capital horizon of five to ten years with a defined scale-up gate
For funders and investors →
Land partners

Landowners, provincial bodies, NGOs

Holders of degraded land in Punjab who want a professional afforestation partner and a share of the outcome.

  • Long-term lease income or a revenue share from credits
  • Local jobs in planting, maintenance, and monitoring
  • Restored land with documented tenure throughout
